Alex Ayala is a pianist and keyboardist based in Philadelphia.  He studied at the University of the Arts where he received a bachelor's degree in piano performance.

After graduating in 2012 he has been highly in demand as a freelance musician, performing with many bands and artists such as Swift Technique, Cold Roses, Doreen Taylor, Dirk Quinn Band, The Royal Noise and more.  He has also been involved in playing keyboards for high school and community theatre including a 2020 production of ‘The Who’s Tommy’ at the Haddonfield Plays and Players, in which he was the co-music director.  Alex is currently the keyboardist for Start Making Sense a tribute to Talking Heads, with whom he tours nationally.

In addition to being an active performer, Alex is also an experienced educator. As a teacher, his methods go beyond the ‘traditional approach,’ emphasizing the basics of technique and note-reading, but also involving ear-training and theory to teach his students that music can go beyond the notes on a page.  It is Alex’s goal as an educator to share his excitement for music with his students and help them find their musical passion.
